The Goodness of God

What an immense subject!
In Romans 2:4 we read that the goodness and kindness of God leads us to Him, and in 2 Samuel 7 the king is restful in the presence of God, recounting His kindness and magnifying His Name and His goodness. Wow!

Some months ago now, I was listening to Bill Johnson on CD talking about the goodness of God. He mentioned that it was a huge issue for the church, not because anyone will want to argue that He isn’t good (as it is a verse in the Bible), but what it means that He is good. I wasn’t entirely sure what it all meant, by I was quite stirred by that point.
I recently read Face to Face with God (Bill Johnson), I read that when Moses asked to see God’s glory, God revealed His goodness (Exodus 33:18-19). Bill then goes on to say that the goodness of
God is revolutionary in nature. Again, I was quite stirred by the phrase and the point he was making.
The absolute goodness of God and all the implication of that. A God who is entirely good.
However, in being impacted by that, I was not entirely clear on all that it meant
And then a few weeks ago I was listening to Graham Cooke at a conference at Dayspring Church, and there it was again - Graham talking about the goodness of God and quoting the Exodus 33:18-19. Graham went on to ask a series of provocative questions which clarified it for me.
The firs question he asked was “was the sacrifice of Jesus enough?”, the second was “had God poured out all His wrath”. My spirit leapt within me as I realised the truth of the matter.
I said “Yes” and “Yes” (as did most everyone else there), because it then all made sense.
Graham went on to say we now live in a season of grace - full of consequences for our actions for sure, but a season of grace!
Wow indeed!
